2015 Pittsburgh Marathon Inspiration
I’m running the 2015 Pittsburgh Marathon to support the Our Clubhouse Organization
Earlier this year I started thinking about whether I would run a spring marathon. For the past 7 years I have run at least 1 spring marathon and thought about taking this spring off and giving my body a rest. Running a spring marathon this year would make it 20 full marathons, something I never thought would ever happen.
Why Pittsburgh Marathon
One night I tweeted a question asking for recommendations for spring marathons. I received a number of responses, including a few for the Pittsburgh Marathon. A buddy of mine has paced Pittsburgh Marathon for the past few years and has always had plenty of great things to say about it. Great course, enthusiastic fans, and solid race swag.
Shortly after responding to a few people, I received a tweet from the Our Clubhouse PA suggesting I sign up to help support their organization. In addition to raising money for a great organization, I would receive an entry to the Pittsburgh Marathon. This sounded like a great offer so I looked in to it a little more to find out what Our Clubhouse PA did.
What is Our Clubhouse
Our Clubhouse PA is an organization that helps make sure that anyone touched by cancer – men, women, teens, and children – will not have to face it alone and has a place to go where they can find comfort, care, and hope. Here is a short video that provides information about the great things this organization does.
After doing a little research and talking to a few people I decided to sign up to support Our Clubhouse. There isn’t a person I know who hasn’t been touched or affected by cancer. I hope that by running this race, I can not only raise money, but help give others the care and support they need to deal with something as powerful as cancer.
How you can help
Support Our Clubhouse PAThanks for taking the time to read my story. If you don’t support Our Clubhouse PA, please consider helping other cancer research organizations like the Jimmy V Foundation.
