Adidas Supernova ST Review

Adidas is at it again! Adidas has once again produced another great stability running shoe equipped with the incredible Boost sole.

I recently reviewed the Adidas Ultra Boost ST shoe and was impressed with the responsive feel and support of the full boost midsole. The returned energy with each step is something that you have to try.

When I heard that Adidas was coming out with the Supernova ST shoe, I did a little research and like the design and color options of this shoe. I had to try this stability shoes since i usually wear shoes in the stability/performance stability shoe category.

Even though the midsole isn’t a full Boost midsole, I had high expectations for this sharp looking shoe.

Below is my review of about the Adidas Supernova ST and my experience running in these shoes. If anything changes with my opinion of the shoe I will update this review.

The Adidas Supernova ST men’s and women’s model have 3 great color options to choose from. The color I wore for this review looked even better in person.

Adidas Supernova ST Verdict

If you are looking for a responsive stability running shoe, I would recommend the Adidas Supernova ST. Unlike the Adidas Ultra Boost ST shoe, this shoe is $50 cheaper retailing for $130.

If you like the feel of the Adidas Boost sole and the sponge-like feel of it, you will enjoy running in these shoes. These may not be the lightest shoes on the market, but they feel lighter than the actual weight.

The forefoot was wide enough that it did not bother me while running, something that has been happening with some of the other shoes I have reviewed.

One thing to note, some websites say to order 1/2 size up (Road Runner Sports) or 1/2 size down (Running Warehouse). I initially tried ordering a 1/2 size down and the shoes were too small. I ended up getting the same size as my Brooks, Asics, and Altra running shoes.

The Active Guy Initial Thoughts

Having liked the Adidas Ultra Boost ST and the boost midsole, I wanted to give this a try. While I liked the full Boost midsole, I almost thought it was a little too spongy. When I saw that this shoe was a combination, I really thought it would be a great balance of feel and support.

Even though people said it was a little heavier than other daily trainers, I was really interested to see how the full Boost sole would feel.

When I opened the box, I was impressed with the color scheme. I initially received a pair of size 10.5 but had to send them back to get the standard size I wear.

Contrary to what some other sites have said, I found that these shoes run true to size.

If you like the feel of the Adidas Boost and need a stability shoe, you will like the responsiveness of these shoes.

The support and stability of this shoe were immediately noticed. The thermoplastic unit in the sole Torsion System provided increased stability, similar to the Ultra Boost ST.

I was definitely happy with the first run in these shoes.

Adidas Supernova ST Overview

The Adidas Supernova ST is a responsive and stability running shoe weighing in around 11.1 ounces.

The mesh upper offers improved stability and support. The Ultra Boost ST seamless upper was sluggish and didn’t feel like this shoe does. The Adidas overlays improve the security of the foot.

The Continental rubber sole provides improved durability in almost any weather condition while the Boost full sole provides a responsive feel.

Adidas Supernova ST Sole

The Supernova ST sole very similar to the Ultra Boost ST sole, which is a high-quality continental rubber. One thing that you will immediately notice is how great the Boost technology is. You can feel the energy return and responsiveness with each step.

For people that are new to Adidas and the Boost technology, the Adidas Boost sole is comprised of small, lightweight TPU pellets, providing a responsive and comfortable ride. The sole does an incredible job of dampening the shock of the body while running.

One thing that is pretty cool about the sole of this shoe is that there are Boost zones, that have areas with increased boost technology to reduce overpronation.

Similar to other Boost shoes, this shoe includes a Continental rubber sole, which means you can expect a durable and improved grip on all surfaces (wet and dry).

Adidas Supernova ST Upper

The Adidas Supernova ST upper felt much better than anticipated. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Ultra Boost ST upper so I didn’t know what to expect this with the Supernova ST. The energized mesh felt great and formed to my foot.

This upper was much better than what I experienced with the Ultra Boost ST. The seamless wrap also improved the midfoot support.

The heel counter provides ample heel support and is very easy to get on and off.
