Saucony Liberty ISO 2 Shoe Review

Saucony Liberty ISO 2

The Saucony Liberty ISO 2 stability running shoe is FINALLY available! If it feels like it has been a long time for the second version of this shoe, its because it has. Over 2 years since the original Liberty ISO first came out. For those not familiar with the Liberty shoe, it is essentially a stable version of the Saucony Freedom ISO.

While it has been over 2 years since the original, the Liberty ISO has been one of my favorite shoes in 2019, thus making me very excited to try the new version. This shoe has continued to prove great for a daily trainer, long runs, and everything in between.

The Saucony Liberty ISO 2 continues to be one of the few stability shoes that have a full EVERUN sole. If you haven’t tried a shoe with a full EVERUN sole, I highly recommend it.

The Saucony Liberty ISO 2 is a stability running shoe that has a 4mm drop and offers the responsiveness and support you would expect from a shoe with a full EVERUN sole.

Below are the things like and don’t like about the Saucony Liberty ISO 2 running shoe.

Like Don’t Like
  • Responsive Sole
  • Sole Durability
  • Wider forefoot
  • Expensive ($160)
  • Color Options (all dark)
  • Sizing (order 1/2 size up)

Saucony Liberty ISO 2 Shoe Verdict

Our Rating:
Viewer Rating:

If you like the original Saucony Liberty ISO, you will want to get a pair of the Liberty ISO 2’s. The stability support and updated ISOFit make this shoe have an even better fit than the original version.

The updated ISOFit upper and the 9.7 oz shoe makes this a great shoe for daily trainer and longer runs (longest distance I ran in these was 14 miles).

While I absolutely love this shoe, the one thing that hurts is the $160 price tag. I feel that if this was $30 lower, you would see this show all over the place.

One thing to note is that if you prefer a little more room in your shoe toxbox, I would order a 1/2 size up. The shoe has a wider forefoot, which feels great if you have a normal to wider foot.

Saucony Liberty ISO 2 Initial Thoughts

As I mentioned earlier, the Liberty ISO was my favorite shoe of 2019. With that said, I had high expectations for shoe for a number of reasons, including the fact that it has been over 2 years since the last release of the shoe.

The 9.7oz shoe felt lighter than the initial versio and the ISOKNIT felt incredibly comfortable. I liked the color worn for this review, but wasn’t impressed with the other color options. I’m assuming they will add other colors like they did with the original version of the Liberty ISO.

Before taking these for a spin,  I ran up and down the driveway and really liked the upper and support of the EVERUN sole. The knit upper of the shoe was more comfortable than the original version. A solid upgrade if you ask me.

I also liked the update to the tongue as well. Way more comfortable in my opinion.

Here are some pictures of the Liberty ISO 2 that I wore for this review.

Saucony Liberty ISO 2 Shoe Overview

The Saucony Liberty ISO 2 running shoe is a stability running shoe that is ideal for daily training runs and enough support for longer distances.

Saucony.com states that “With a full-length EVERUNTM midsole, you will want to run more than ever before. Good thing we added a touch of medial guidance for just enough stability for those extra miles you’ll be putting in.”

The ISOFIT and updated mesh upper provides a lightweight, responsie, and compfortable stability shoe. Once you wear this shoe you will want to make it your only running shoe.

The Liberty ISO 2 weighs almost identical to the original version. I must say that when I first picked it up, I thought it was lighter than the shoe original version.

Saucony Liberty ISO 2 Shoe Sole

The Saucony Liberty ISO 2 sole is similar to original version of this shoe. The Liberty ISO 2 continues to have a full EVERUNN sole, making it responsive and very comfortable.

One of the things that Saucony added was an EVERUN topsole, which adds a bit of cushioning that increases energy return. I didn’t notice a huge difference but wanted to mention it as it is something that should increase responsiveness.

The Tri-Flex Crystal Rubber compound improves durability and flexibility which you will notice as soon as you hold the shoe, similar to the original version of this shoe.

The sole includes a medial TPU guidance frame (a plastic piece in the sole you can see in the photos below), that helps with runners who overpronate and limit lateral motion. This is what makes this shoe a stability shoe.

Saucony Liberty ISO 2 Shoe Upper

The main updates to the Liberty ISO 2 were with the upper portion of the shoe. The ISOFIT mesh continues to provide a breathable and adaptive material that almost feels like a sock. The new ISOFIBER material improves stability to keep your foot more stable while running.

When you put on the Saucony Liberty ISO 2 on, you will immediately notice the mesh upper that conforms to your foot, providing that sock-like feel. If you wore the original version of this shoe you wil definitely notice the updated feel of this shoe.

The shoe continues to have a sock-like feel that makes it great to run in. The mesh used for the upper is lightweight and extremely breathable. The supported heel helps you securely move forward with each step.
