Nike Structure 17 Shoe Review

I haven’t worn Nike’s in a long time and had heard a few people talking about the Nike Structure 17 running shoe so I figured I would give them a shot if I could find a good deal. I did a few searches and was able to end up getting a cool looking green pair for about $60 shipped. Not bad considering these shoes retail for $115. Not only did I hear good things about how they performed, but they also looked sweet. These shoes are lightweight and fast, but not nearly as soft as the Hoka One One Cliftons I recently reviewed.

Pros Cons
  • Great Lightweight Support
  • Plenty of color options/Look Great
  • Run True to Size
  • Price (found a pair for $60)
  • Took a few runs to break in

Nike Structure 17 Running Shoe Verdict

The Nike Structure 17 running shoe is lightweight daily trainer that is a great choice is you are looking for a moderate support, stylish, and shoe that performs in all conditions. I was pleasantly surprised by the fit and feel of these shoes.

If you can find a deal on these shoes, they are definitely worth adding to your running shoe rotation.

Nike Structure 17 Running Shoe Initial Thoughts

I didn’t really know what to expect after ordering the Nike Structure 17 running shoe. It had been years since I had last worn a pair of Nike’s for running. The only Nike shoes I have worn since college were soccer shoes that I loved. I have heard a number of things about Nike running shoes, none of the feedback was necessarily good. Most of it was the shoes are too narrow or the shoes aren’t great for long distance runners. Either way, I wanted to give them a shot to see what Nike was all about.

Nike Structure 17 Running Shoe

The Nike Structure 17 running shoe is a great stability shoe that will allow you to not only run fast, but comfortably. This has includes the Nike dynamic support technology that provides a great fit and a smooth ride. This shoe is ideal for runners who have a mild to moderate overpronated gait.

The reflective details of the show allow you to easily be seen during those late night and winter runs. The shoe weighs in at around 10oz, which is a great for everyday runs or speed work efforts.

The added cushion towards the ball of you feet give a soft ride that your body will appreciate later.

Nike Structure 17 Running Shoe Sole

The Nike Structure 17 sole was a little different from I expected. The sole is made out of BRS 1000 carbon rubber, which provides traction with improved durability. Something that I’m always looking for when buying shoes. The rubber towards the metatarsal area has blown rubber which provides more support and improved cushioning. The rubber used on the sole is great for most surfaces and allows you to feel confident running on a variety of surfaces.

When I first felt the sole, it felt slick and didn’t know how it would feel on the treadmill. After a few runs, I have to say it feels like any other running shoe I have worn.

Nike Structure 17 Running Shoe Upper

The Nike Structure 17 running shoe has a few different technologies in the upper of the shoe that make it compelling to people like myself. The upper has a dynamic fit that has a supportive sleeve providing arch support and an improved fit. The mesh upper minimizes weight and allows for the shoe to weigh in around 10oz, which is right around the weight I like. Not too heavy, not too light.

The Active Guy Conclusion

The Nike Structure 17 running shoe is a solid shoe if you are looking to add extra shoes to your running inventory. This shoe doesn’t rank up with the Adidas Adizero or the Hoka One One Clifton, but is a great value shoe that is great for all distances. I have worn the shoe on a 6 miler, 10 milers, and will be trying it out on a 16 miler later this month. Besides feeling pretty good, these shoes look sweet. I would give them bonus points just for style.

This shoe is a little harder to find, but highly recommend them if you are looking for a running shoe that keeps your feet dry. If you need help finding deals on this shoe, contact me.
