Adidas Adizero Tempo 9 Boost Shoe Review
If the Adidas Tempo 9 Boost is anything like the Adidas Tempo 8 Boost shoe, then you should be excited. The updated design and color scheme not only look great but feel even better. The responsiveness of the Boost midsole was the first thing I noticed when putting these shoes on.
If you have read some of my previous posts then you know I am a big fan of the Adidas Adizero Tempo running shoe. The Tempo Boost and the Brooks ST Racer 5 are the primary shoes I train and race in.
Below are pros and cons of the Adidas Tempo 9 Boost shoe.

Adidas Tempo Boost 9 Shoe Verdict
If you are a fan of Adidas Boost technology and want a lightweight performance stability shoe, then you have to try the Adidas Tempo Boost 9 shoe.
The Adidas Tempo Boost 9 has an improved upper material that not only increases comfort but improves stability.
When you first walk in these you appreciate the Boost technology combined with sleek, lightweight feel of these shoes. I really thought the gray was an awesome color for all occasions.
The only thing I would change about this shoe is the sizing. The last two versions of the Adidas Tempo required me to order a 1/2 size up. Not a big deal but can make it tough for people who don’t try these on in person.

The Active Guy Initial Thoughts
When I first opened the box, I immediately noticed the gray color of these shoes. The gray color and style of this shoe were much better in person than online. Similar to earlier models of this shoe, the boost technology felt supportive and responsive.
The lightweight feel combined with a sleek and responsive midsole made me excited to give this shoe a try.
One thing I had to do was return the first pair I ordered so that I could get a bigger size. Similar to the Adidas Tempo 8 I had to order a 1/2 size up for this model.

Adidas Adizero Tempo 9 Boost Shoe Overview
The Adidas Adizero Tempo 9 running shoe is a daily trainer and performance stability running shoe that is ideal for slight to mild overpronated foot motion.
The boost midsole provides a responsive and lightweight (8.9 oz for size 9) running shoe that is light enough for daily training, speed work and supportive enough for races, up to the marathon distance.
The Continental rubber outsole provides traction in wet or dry conditions. The shoe has a number of similar features found in earlier models of this shoe.
Adizero Tempo 9 Boost Shoe Sole
The sole of the Tempo 9 has a similar Continental rubber outsole designed to offer improved stability and traction. If you have worn any of the past few Tempo Boost shoes then you will notice the sole is very similar.
The rubber part of the forefoot part of the sole is a bit thinner like the Adidas Tempo 8 Boost but appears to have some increased support to the forefoot. The durability should continue to be impressive due to the similar on this shoe. The rubber sole does a great job with traction in all-weather conditions.
This Boost midsole has an incredibly responsive ride. Even though last years version had a Boost midsole, I feel like the shoe this year feels way more springy, something that I appreciated during my test runs.it has a sole made with the Boost technology, which are capsules that improve sole responsiveness and an increased shoe life with minimal weight. If you haven’t tried any boost shoes on, I suggest giving them a try, or at least squeezing the sole when you find one.
One thing that is new is the Dual Density Boost feature that is found on the medial (inside) of the shoe, which provides that energized stability feeling. You can see this in one of the pictures above.
If you haven’t tried any boost shoes on, I suggest giving them a try, or at least squeezing the sole when you find one.

Adidas Adizero Tempo 9 Boost Shoe Upper
One thing that has continued to bother me with so many run shoes is the width of the forefoot/upper. One thing that I was excited to see the Adidas Tempo Boost 9 was the redesigned upper constructed of a soft webbing fabric that provides incredible support and comfort.
The shoe toe box continues to have air mesh which improves breathability while reducing weight. When I first wore these shoes, I noticed that the forefoot seemed to adapt to my forefoot better than previous versions.
This shoe continues to have a sock liner that makes these so comfortable to wear. The webbing of the improved upper provides a more natural fit for your foot. The upper in this year’s model felt better than the previous model.
The tongue continues to be soft and comfortable, making it easy to adjust if desired.

Thanks for your review. I was running in the Brooks ST5 for some time and wondered, did you need to size a 1/2 size up from what you wore in the Brooks? Thanks!
Mike, hey thanks for the note. I didn’t initially size up with the Brooks ST5, but did with the last pair I ordered. I have two pairs that still have some life on them but have really enjoyed running in the Tempo 9’s, which I did order a 1/2 size up. Hope this answers your question!

which is better, adizero 9 or pureboost dpr?
Vinicius, it depends on the type of shoe you are looking for. The Adizero Tempo 9 is a performance stability shoe while the PureBoost DPR is a neutral shoe. I haven’t tried the PureBoost DPR but have heard that its narrow and takes some getting used to. I would recommend trying them on in person if you have the ability to do that before deciding. Let me know if you have any other questions!
