The latest version of the Hoka One One Arahi 4 stability shoe is now available!

While I was impress with the Arahi 3, I was excited to give the Arahi 4 a try. To this day, I continue to wear the Arahi 2 every morning when I take my boys to daycare. The Arahi continues to be comfortable and look great. The Arahi 4 has 4 great color options to choose from, something you don’t see often. For some reason I have really liked lighter color shoes and these shoes fit that category

At the time of this review, the longest run in these shoes has been 10 miles. If my experience with this shoe changes, I will update this review.

Hoka One One Arahi 4 Verdict

If you are looking for a lightweight stability running shoe, I would reccomend giving the Arahi 4 a try. Runners who liked the Arahi 3 will like the updates to the Arahi 4. I will say though that I have started to like the responsiveness of the Adidas Boost a bit more than the Hoka sole.

If you haven’t worn Hokas before, they are well known for their marshmallow like foam sole. This continues to be the case with the Arahi 4. The sole takes a little getting used to, especially if you run in a more traditional running shoe.

One thing to note is that I would suggest wearing these on the road due to the material of the sole.

One thing you will immediately notice is the Meta-Rocker technology, which improves the transition with each stride. The shoe has a medium width toebox, something that I liked more than the narrow Clifton toebox. The shoe is lightweight and something you will notice as soon as you try it on.

Hoka One One Arahi 4 Initial Thoughts

While there were minor updates the Arahi 4 shoe, one thing I immediately noticed was the color options. I was really impressed with the latest color options of the Arahi 4. As I mentioned earlier, I still wear a pair of the Arahi 2, mostly because I like the colors.

When I first opened the box, I noticed that the shoe looked and felt very similar to its predecessor. The shoe felt really light and had the same sole as the previous version. With similar versions, I continued to ordered a 1/2 size up just to make sure my feet had enough room. I learned from the Arahi 3 that ordering ½ size was best for me and something I would recommend for those who need a little extra room in the toebox area.

The Rocker technology is something you also notice when you first put these shoes on. While it may feel a little weird at first, it really is great for running.

Hoka One One Arahi 4 Overview

The Hoka One One Arahi 4 running shoes is one of the lighter performance stability running shoes on the market weighing around 9.8 ounces. The updates to the latest version are minimal, mostly to the upper portion of the shoe. The Arahi 4 sole remains identical to the previous version.

The Arahi 4 reduces overpronation by using an EVA J-Frame Construction. The Arahi 4 comes with an active foot frame, which helps runners looking for a stability shoe by reducing over-pronation.

This shoe is better suited for runners looking for a lightweight and supportive stability running shoe. As I mentioned earlier, I like this shoe, but have started to learn towards the Adidas Boost shoe instead of the Hoka marshmellow feel.

Hoka One One Arahi 4 Sole

This section is simple because there were no updates to the Arahi 4 sole. The looks the same, feels the same and continues to deliver a great feel that the Arahi 3 did.

The Arahi 4 continues to utilize the EVA J-Frame. This lightweight feature has a firm EVA foam along the medial side of the shoe and around the heel to support and guide the foot. The sole continues to be made of high abrasion rubber to improve durability.

If you are unfamiliar with the Early Stage Meta-Rocker technology, Hoka One One describes it as being “specifically engineered with a low heel-toe differential and a sculpted outsole radius in the heel and toe, creates a unique fulcrum effect and encourages a guided foot gait cycle.” This technology is used in a number of Hoka shoes, including the Hoka Arahi, Challenger, and Clifton shoe models.

As I mentioned earlier, I would recommend wearing these on the road or treadmill instead of a trail due to the durability of this sole.

Hoka One One Arahi 4 Upper

The Hoka One One Arahi 4 upper was the main thing that was updated with the latest version of this shoe. The new lightweight upper has an updated engineered mesh with improved breathability, making it great for running in all weather conditions.

The upper mesh lining feels great and something you will notice if you haven’t worn this shoe before. The Molded Ortholite Sockliner helps with odor management and increases the comfort of the shoe.
