Asics DynaFlyte 3 Shoe Review

Asics DynaFlyte 3

The Asics DynaFlyte 3 is now available! After a tremendous amount of success with the Asics DynaFlyte and DynaFlyte 2, Asics is back at it with an even better DynaFlyte 3 model. While the shoe is similar, there are a few updates which you will notice immediately. The updated version looks and feels a little different, all of which are improvements in my opinion.

It’s hard to believe that we are already in the third version of this shoe. Not only is it the third version of this shoe, but I continue to see more and more people running in this shoe. It’s easy to see why though since this shoe is a great lightweight and responsive running shoe.

According to Asics.com, the DynaFlyte Lyte Foam is described as “Reinforced fibers allow complete bounce back while being 55% lighter than industry standard EVA.”

Below are pictures of the Asics DynaFlyte 3 that I wore for this review. At the time of this review, there are 4 available colors for this shoe. There are a few decent color options, which is great if you are picky about what your running shoes look like. Some of the pictures make the shoes look bluer than what they really are.

If you are looking for a lightweight neutral shoe that has a soft and comfortable feel then I recommend trying the Asics DynaFlyte 3 running shoe. This shoe is ideal for daily training and great for those tough workouts that prepare you for race day. I do think you could even wear this on race day if preferred.

With a new midsole and mesh upper, I really think that people are going to like the updates made to the DynaFlyte 3.

If anything changes with my experience with these shoes, I will update this post.

Asics DynaFlyte 3 Initial thoughts

When I first opened the box of the Asics DynaFlyte 3 shoe, I noticed how light the shoe felt. I could tell that a number of updates were made to the shoe from the prior version. The upper and midsole both looked way different than the previous version.

When I put the shoes on and walked around the house, the upper was very comfortable and the sockliner and midsole really felt great. These shoes felt quick and light as soon as I put them on.

The shoe felt great during my first 7-mile run. The redesigned upper and improved midsole felt responsive and smooth.

Asics DynaFlyte 3 Upper

One thing that has changed with this version is that it has an updated mesh upper that not only looks better, but also improves stability and comfort.

In the third version of the DynaFlyte, Asics uses Adept Mesh which has ribbons that are a bit wider than the previous version. If you look at the pictures below you can see what I’m talking about. These ribbons improve flexibility when running.

The comfortable sock-liner helps with increased cushioning and is constructed with an anti-bacterial material, helping keep your foot dry.

The one thing that I like about the latest version of this shoe are the color options. They are much better than the DynaFlyte 2.

The tongue and standard lacing system worked well to keep my foot in place.

Asics DynaFlyte 3 Sole

The sole of the Asics DynaFlyte 3 continued to be composed of FlyteFoam Lyte material. Flytefoam Lyte is supposed to be more durable and lighter than its predecessor.

As noted in previous DynaFlyte reviews, FoamFlyte technology is 55% lighter than the traditional EVA sole. This means more cushion with a lightweight feel, something most runners look for in a shoe.

Another update to the midsole was the removal of the plastic trusstic system, which was part of the two previous versions of the DynaFlyte shoe. This reduces weight and allows the shoe to improve the natural running motion.

Similar to other Asics shoes, the heel of the sole is made of ASICS High Abrasion Rubber (AHAR). This provides increased durability.

The Impact Guidance System (IGS) provides a natural transition with each step. Below are a few pictures of the DynaFlyte 3 sole.
