Saucony Triumph ISO 2 Shoe Review

Saucony Triumph ISO 2 Shoe Review

I recently wrote about the Saucony Triumph ISO running shoes that have allowed me to continue to run and feel better before and after I ran the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon in November of 2015.

When I saw that Saucony created a new version of these shoes, I immediately had to order them to run in and review. If you are like, once you find a shoe you like, you always want to try the next version. I did this for years with the Asics Gel DS models.

Below are pictures of the Triumph ISO 2 shoes that are being reviewed. Saucony sells 4 colors available for the Triumph ISO 2 model (one color was created for the NYC Marathon).

Pros Cons
  • Lightweight feel
  • Amazing comfort
  • True sizing
  • Color options
  • Price (retail $150)
  • Sole durability

Saucony Triumph ISO 2 Verdict

Saucony has once again delivered with the second model of the Triumph ISO 2 shoes. These shoes provide an amazing feel and enough support for almost any run.

These shoes continue to be my go to shoes for tempo runs, long runs, and recovery runs. I know these shoes are a little pricey, but I would highly recommend giving these shoes a try.

About the Saucony Triumph ISO 2

The Saucony Triumph ISO 2 is the latest shoe in the ISO line of running shoes from Saucony. This newer technology makes running in this shoe better than the first version of the Triumph ISO. These shoes are very comfortable, responsive, and deliver the right amount of cushioning.

Similar to the first version, these shoes have the ISOFIT upper, which creates a sock-like feel for maximum comfort and adaptability. The sock-like fit with no-sew overlays increase comfort and stability.

Saucony Triumph ISO 2 Initial Thoughts

After initializing wearing the first model of the Saucony Triumph ISO’s, I didn’t think the next version could be improved. After wearing these shoes, I really liked the feel of the new EVERUN sole. The cushion and responsiveness felt great during a 10 mile run and an 8 mile tempo run.

Similar to the first model of the Triumph ISO’s, the weight of 10.2 oz was light enough to make me feel fast when wearing these.

Saucony Triumph ISO 2 Sole

The updated Triumph ISO 2 sole has been highly marketed and touted as game changer in running shoes. The all new EVERUN sole is made up of an updated responsive compound that helps distribute weight and energy across the rest of the foot. This means that with every step, your feet are supported evenly.

The updated sole also provides more flexibility and improved durability, something every runner wants to have. The shoe also has the same POWERGRID material that assists with shock absorption and cushion.

I wore these shoes on the road, a soft trail, and on the treadmill. The shoe performed great on all surfaces, but excelled on the road.

Saucony Triumph ISO 2 Upper

The upper on the Triumph ISO 2 didn’t change nearly as much as the sole did on the latest version. The ISOFit continues to provide a sock-like fit that forms to your foot’s size and movements, providing ultimate comfort.

The wide toe box provides enough room for my feet and really give a sock like fit. The lightweight support and shoe liner promote breathability and exceptional fit.

The Active Guy Conclusion and Rating

The Saucony Triumph ISO 2 continues to be daily running shoe. I am not sure I would wear it in a race, but the responsiveness and support make it great for just about any distance.
