Saucony Omni 16 Shoe Review
This year I have been training primarily in the Asics GT-2000 and the Adidas Tempo Boost 9. Last month I received a new issue of Runners World and read that the Saucony Omni was a solid stability shoe that makes you want to go faster. I thought stability and fast, sounds like a great shoe to try.
I recently reviewed the Saucony Kinvara 8 which I really liked and was hoping I would have a similar experience with the Omni 16. Ever since Saucony started making shoes with the EVERUN sole, I have been satisfied with how these shoes feel during my runs.
If you are a fan of the Saucony Omni 15, you will like the updates to the Omni 16.
One thing I wanted to share about this shoe was sizing recommendations from Road Runner Sports. They say to order a 1/2 size up while every other site says to order your standard running shoe size. I recommend ordering your standard running shoe size.
There are 2 color options (2 for men, 2 for women) for this shoe, none of which I thought were that great. The color used in this review is much better than the other navy and red option.

Saucony Omni 16 Shoe Verdict
I will tell you that I was really impressed with the Saucony Omni 16 running shoe. This stability running shoe not only felt great but was lightweight and felt fast.
The 10 oz shoe felt lighter than the actual weight and was way more comfortable than I expected.
The shoe has a few color options that are great for almost any type of run. I like the versatility of this shoe and will continue to try to mix this in my rotation.
The construction of the heel was different than expected. It really doesn’t have much structure at all, which allows the heel to conform to your foot. The upper isn’t super wide but stretches due to the material.
The Saucony Omni 16 runs true to size. I do wish this shoe was a little cheaper, but you can usually find a coupon code to get a better deal.

Having read that the Saucony Omni 16 was a lightweight and fast feeling shoe, I was excited to give the Saucony Omni 16 a try.
Even though some of my other shoes are lighter than 10oz, these shoes felt lighter than I expected. The gray and blue color scheme looked better in person and I knew that I would like the EVERUN sole.
When I first put the shoes on and ran around my family room, they felt incredible. Lightweight and responsive with a touch of cushion. Something I have been looking for.
The cushioned tongue felt great once these shoes were tied.

You know this is a solid shoe model when it has been around as long as it has. 16 versions of a shoe is a testament to the popularity of this great stability shoe. It is tough to find a shoe that is as versatile as the Saucony Omni 16.

The Saucony Omni 16 sole is similar to some of the latest Saucony running shoes. This shoe includes an EVERUN midsole, which is a responsive material that distributes the cushioning of the shoe. The SRC Landing Zone improves shock absorption with each step.
As I mentioned earlier, this shoe is extremely supportive and only weighs 10 oz. This is partly due to the SSL (Saucony Super Lite) midsole. The material provides lightweight comfort, rebound, and durability.
As I wear these shoes I will report back on any updates related to durability of the sole. Below are a few pictures of the Saucony Omni 16 sole.
Saucony Omni 16 Shoe Upper
The Saucony Omni 16 upper has a few updates with the latest version. The shoe continues to have a RUNDRY collar to help with managing moisture. The mesh upper helps reduce weight, increases breathability, and provides a snug and comfortable fit. When you put on the Saucony Omni 16, you will immediately notice the mesh upper that forms to your foot, providing that sock-like feel that I was just talking about.
The Flex Film Overlays are welded to the upper of the shoe to help with a secure fit. You can see this below. The Sauc-Fit upper system continues to provide the comfort you would expect from Saucony.

Bought these shoes here in the UK a few days ago. 3 runs so far and feel as though they may be my best Saucony shoes yet.

What are your views on this shoe for distance running ? ( first marathon in April, London )
A great training shoe, but personally wouldn’t wear this for a marathon race. I like this shoe for runs from 5-12 or so miles. It’s comfortable, it just doesn’t provide the response that the Liberty or Hurriance provides. Let me know if you have any other questions!
