Saucony Hurricane ISO 2 Shoe Review

Saucony Hurricane ISO 2 Running Shoe

The Saucony Hurricane ISO 2 running shoe is now available! I recently wrote about the original Hurricane ISO shoe and been wearing them multiple times a week as I increase my miles for my spring half marathon (Cleveland). I was hoping to run Boston but had a few injuries that prevented me from running.

If you have read my Hurricane ISO review, then you know I really like these shoes. They are lightweight, yet provide a great balance of support that make you feel like you are running on a cloud. Ever since my foot started bothering me last year, I needed shoes with ample toe box room and additional support.

Having tried the original Triumph ISO and Triumph ISO 2, I had a great feeling that the second model of the Hurricane ISO would be exceptional.

Below are pros and cons of the updated Saucony Hurricane ISO 2 model.

Pros Cons
  • Lightweight feel
  • Responsive sole
  • Plenty of color options
  • True sizing
  • Pricing: $160 MSRP

Saucony Hurricane ISO 2 Shoe Verdict

The first model of the Saucony Hurricane ISO shoe was awesome. The latest model of this continues the tradition of the Hurricane. This model is lightweight, responsive, and has a number of great color options to choose from.

The updated Everun sole provides incredible support that returns energy to you with each step. I am hoping the improved durability of the sole will help increase the life of this version.

If you are looking for a lightweight, supportive stability shoe, consider giving these a try!

As I mentioned there are a number of color options (even more can be found on Amazon.com).

Men’s Colors: Grey/Charcoal/Orange, Black/Silver/Slime, White/Red/Orange
Women’s Colors: Blue/Silver/Citron, Black/Charcoal/Coral, Purple/Black/White

Below are pictures of the shoes I reviewed.

Saucony Hurricane ISO 2 Initial Thoughts

I am always excited to see the latest version of one of my favorite shoes. When I ordered the shoes online, I couldn’t really tell how the green would look in person. After opening the box I was impressed with the minor updates to the upper and really liked the look and feel of the Everun sole.

Even though the sole was a little different, the updated shoe felt great when I first put them on. The padded tongue made for a snug fit. One thing that stood out to me was how responsive these shoes felt. Before even running in these, I had a good feeling that these would be great for my longer runs.

Saucony Hurricane ISO 2 Shoe Overview

As I have mentioned earlier in the post, the Saucony Hurricane ISO 2 running shoe will certainly be be added to my running shoe rotation. The updated sole is flexible, comfortable and responsive.

If you visit Saucony.com, they will tell you the shoe is a “perfect blend of comfort and durability features an EVERUN topsole, delivering smoother transitions and all-day cushioning. Plus, the new ISOFIT upper helps stabilize your foot while you enjoy a long day on the road.”

My favorite updates to this incredible shoe are the sole. I will explain later in the post why I am such a huge fan, but wanted to mention it again.

Weighing in at 10.8 oz for a men’s size 9, these shoes are a great weight for recovery and long runs.

Saucony Hurricane ISO 2 Shoe Sole

The updated sole to the Hurricane ISO 2 is by far the biggest improvement to this shoe. It’s not that the sole on the first model was bad, but the updated Everun technology really makes a huge different with regards to feel, durability, and support. This was added to both the heel and midfoot of the sole.

If you look at the pictures below, you will see the sole looks almost like a wave, but what it actually does is allow the sole to contour to your foot and surface, creating a plush and supportive feel.

The Everun sole not only provides a smooth ride, but is highly durable, and provides returned energy back to you providing an improved feel with each stride. All of this comes with a lightweight feel.

A few other items to note with the sole is the PWRGRD+ platform and POWERGRID construction. The updated platform provides increased cushion and improved durability. The POWERGRID construction adds a plush feel that feels great with each stride.

If you look at the updates to the Saucony Hurricane ISO 2, they are mostly based around improved cushion, support, and durability. Below are a few pictures of the sole.

Saucony Hurricane ISO 2 Shoe Upper

The one thing that didn’t change too much this was the upper of the Hurricane ISO 2. If you look at the pictures below, you will notice a few changes, but nothing major like the update of the sole.

Like other ISO models, this shoe has the ISOFIT, which is a sock like feel that was added to certain shoes a year or two ago that provide increased comfort and feel. The ISOFIT is an adaptive fit system that shapes to your foot and helps increase support as you increase mileage.

As you can tell from the pictures, the updates to this shoe look great. I do wish the forefoot of this shoe was wider, but isn’t a big deal since this shoe does have a wide model that can be purchased.
