Saucony Guide ISO Shoe Review

Saucony Guide ISO Shoe Review

Saucony Guide ISO

The Saucony Guide ISO shoe is finally here! This is the third straight year that I have had the opportunity to try this stability running shoe. If you were a fan of the Saucony Guide 9 or the Saucony Guide 10, you will be a big fan of the latest version of this popular shoe.

The latest version of the Saucony Guide continues to offer plenty of support and cushioning for those daily training runs. This support and responsiveness of this shoe remind me of the Saucony Omni 16.

The Saucony Guide 9 and 10 are very similar with the latest Guide ISO version having some great updates including the ISOFIT upper.

Below are the things like and don’t like about the Saucony Guide ISO running shoe.

Like Don’t Like
  • Lightweight feel
  • Responsive Sole
  • Value Priced ($120 MSRP)
  • Limited Color Options
  • Sole Durability
  • Sizing (order 1/2 size up)

Saucony Guide ISO Shoe Verdict

Saucony delivers again with the latest Guide running shoe. The updated ISOFit upper matched with the EVERUN sole makes for a great stability running shoe.

The updated ISOFit upper and a 10.3 oz shoe makes this an ideal shoe for daily trainer and longer runs (I wore these on a 14-mile run and they felt great).

Some reviews I have read about this are that the forefoot wasn’t wide enough for them. I had no problems with the width. I also ordered a 1/2 size up with this shoe.

If you were a big fan of the feel or the Saucony Guide 10, you will really enjoy the updated version of this stability running shoe. I will update this review if my experience changes with this shoe.

Saucony Guide ISO Initial Thoughts

Having read that the Saucony Guide ISO was very similar to the 10, I had a feeling I would enjoy running in the latest version of the Saucony Guide. One of the main updates was the ISOFIT, which I have really liked on the Saucony Triumph ISO 3.

I knew the weight of the shoe was similar to the Saucony Guide 10, but when I put the shoe on the 10.3 oz shoe felt lighter than I expected. The shoe continues to include the EVERUN sole which is one of my favorite soles on the market.

The limited color options were a bit disappointing but I still liked the color combination worn for this review. Besides being a little heavier than the Guide 10, the updates to this shoe make it worthwhile to try.

Here are a few pictures of the Saucony Guide ISO shoes that I wore for this review.

Saucony Guide ISO Shoe Overview

The Saucony Guide ISO running shoe is an excellent choice for people looking for a daily stability trainer. The updated Guide ISO provides a great combination of support and cushion for those who have a moderate to severe overpronated foot motion.

The latest version has an all-new ISOFIT upgrade and continues with the EVERUN sole, which makes it feel great with each step.

Saucony.com states that “The award winning Guide model has been setting the pace for stability shoes for the past decade. Now the Guide ISO raises the bar again with an innovative ISOFIT design for a more refined fit. Medial support provides an effortless transition with every step.”

The mesh and seamless design provide a great fit, almost hugging your feet. As I have mentioned before, these shoes are light enough for long runs and supportive enough for recovery runs.

Saucony Guide ISO Shoe Sole

There were a few tweaks made to the Saucony Guide ISO running shoe sole. The sole from the Guide 10 was upgraded to have a new PWRFOAM sole paired with the EVERUN sole that creates an increased supportive and responsive feel.

The sole continues to include flex grooves which flex to fit the foot as you move with each step. This isn’t something you will notice, but still, something to mention. All of these updated features make the shoe responsive and lightweight.

Below are two similar technologies that remain with the Guide ISO shoe.

The XT-900 outsole is made of carbon rubber material that improves durability along with traction. Additionally, the Tri-Flex sole increases flexibility and provides improved feel with each step.

Saucony Guide ISO Shoe Upper

The Saucony Guide ISO upper was one of my favorite updates to the shoe. The redesigned upper now has the ISOFIT upper, which improves the fit of this shoe. Not only does it improve the fit and comfort, but the updated mesh has an increased level of breathability to keep your feet cool during those tough workouts.

The Guide ISO continues to have the RunDry collar, which provides a snug and comfortable fit while absorbing moisture.

The Guide ISO continues to include the ComfortLite Sockliner. This liner contours the inner of the shoe and helps with alleviating pressure on the forefoot.

Below are a few pictures of the redesigned mesh upper material.
