SaltStick Product Review
Do you sweat a lot during your runs or workouts? My buddy Gary sweats more than anyone I know. Over the past few years he has told me about the Hammer Electrolyte pills he has taken to help him with his long runs and bike rides. A few weeks ago I was in contact with SaltStick and have read about others who use electrolyte replacement products. Due to the popularity and success of others using these types of products, I wanted to try SaltStick out and share my experience with you.
Up to this point in my running time, I haven’t used electrolyte replacements or salt tablets. Recently my sister asked me if I was aware of any salt or electrolyte replacements that I have used to help on those tough or on workouts. My sister is newer to running and recently signed up for the Columbus Marathon in October so I wanted to do some research to see what would help her succeed with marathon training.
Please note: This review provides basic information about SaltStick and my experience when using the SaltStick FastChew product.
What are SaltStick FastChews?
SaltStick® Fastchews are an easy to consume pill that provides your body with electrolytes and supplements your body loses through sweat during workouts.
The recommended serving is a FastChew tablet (size of a dime) every 15-30 minutes. Consuming eight SaltStick FastChews equates to 400 mg sodium, 120 mg potassium, 24 mg magnesium, and 40 mg calcium, which is the ideal ratio to keep you moving during those tough workouts.

Why Choose SaltStick?
SaltStick products are great for electrolyte replacement and are very easy to use, as well as being very easy on the stomach. In the past on those hot days, I have occasionally had issues when consuming gels or energy chews. Due to the formula created by SaltStick, these products are designed to easily digest and absorb quickly.
SaltStick products been formulated to give electrolytes to help lower heat stress and muscle cramping due to perspiration, in a quantity and form which your body can absorb. This product is ideal for athletes, outdoor workers or for use in hot conditions.

SaltStick Verdict
If you sweat a lot and struggle with replacing lost electrolytes, then I would definitely recommend SaltStick. During two of my long runs, I used the lemon-lime FastChews to help me get through the longer efforts.
Although the lemon-lime was a bit tart, they were easier to consume and quickly gave me the energy I needed to keep going. I wouldn’t recommend these as a stand alone snack.
These are reasonably priced and are actually cheaper than buying energy gels. I can’t wait to try these out during my long bike rides this summer.
One other thing I wanted to point out is the wrapper used by SaltStick for FastChews is a green product, something that I feel is important.

Besides the FastChews, SaltSticks has a number of other products used for electrolyte replacements. Rather the chewable tablet, they have two pill alternatives. Below is a list of the other options they now sell.
The electrolyte capsules were the original products that helped this company grow. These pills help with heat stress and muscle cramping, something I have dealt with in the past. If I had to choose one, I would go with the one that has a bit of caffeine to give me that extra jolt to keep moving.

The Active Guy Conclusion
I would certainly recommend trying SaltStick products. These products are easy to use, reasonably priced, and most importantly will help you improve performance.
