I was in the market for new wireless earbuds for running and working out so I decided to google “best earbuds for running”. The one result that caught my attention was the Jaybirds Vista earbuds, which happened to be the Runner’s World Editors Choice 2019. These earbuds were sold as having incredible sound and battery life along with being waterproof and sweatproof.
If you run or workout often, you probably listen to music while exercising. I usually listen to Podcasts, but some of my friends can’t workout without music. In the past I wore cheap wireless headphones that would work for awhile but ultimately would stop working due to sweat.
With the introduction of Apple AirPods a few years back, the wireless earbud market changed and has become really competitive. Every major brand now has a high end earbud that means you have plenty of options to choose from. While there are many earbuds to choose from, I believe the Jaybirds Vista Earbuds are the best earbuds for running and working out.
Below are a few other earbuds that I would consider if I didn’t wear the the Jaybirds Vista earbuds.
- Jabra ($180) – Elite Active 75t Earbuds – Runners World 2020 Editors Choice
- Anker ($35)- Soundcore Spirit SweatGuard Headphones
- Jabra ($140) – Elite Active 65t
- Bose ($180) – Bose Sport Earbuds
- Beats ($250) – Powerbeats Pro
- Aftershokz ($120) – Trekz Air
- Apple ( $140) – AirPods / AirPods Pro
Below are a few pictures of the Jaybird Vista earbuds worn for this review.

Jaybird Vista Wireless Earbuds Verdict
|Our Rating:||Viewer Rating:|
[Total: 2 Average: 4.5/5]
The Jaybird Vista Wireless Earbuds are a highly rated true wireless earbud making it great for daily workouts.
The great battery life and waterproof feature make this a great earbud choice for all exercise activities. I even put these earbuds through a load of laundry and they came out clean, working perfectly. The washing machine was an accident and I am thankful they still worked after this.
There are a few color options for these earbuds so if you don’t like the camo option, you have a few other colors to choose from. I really liked the camo ones I wore, but can understand that everyone may not like this color option.
I have tried using these on phone calls, but they really didn’t work great for that. Jaybirds has a great mobile app that allows you to tune these earbuds and to check the battery.
One other thing to note is that the battery life for these earbuds is awesome. The battery has been tested to last 16 hours with the charging case and I must save I have worn these on multiple long runs without charging them once.
While I highly recommend these earbuds, they are not cheap. These retail for $179, but you can usually get for less than that price.
Jaybird Vista Earbuds Initial Thoughts
I had read some great things about the fit, performance, and sound of the Jaybird Vista earbuds before buying them. When I first opened the box, I was impressed with the simplicity of these earbuds. These were my first true wireless earbuds and I immediately loved the freedom that these earbuds provided.
While they looked a littler bigger than I expected, I was eager to see how they sounded and fit. When I first put the Vista earbuds in, they fit pretty well, but took some adjusting to get used to.
It was amazing to me how well these blocked out external sound and really could only hear the music, something I wasn’t used to with AirPods and other headphones I have worn in the past.

Jaybird Vista Wireless Earbuds Fit
The Jaybird Vista earbuds come with 4 different rubber ear sizes, which means you have a great chance that these will fit great with your ears.
“With their durable construction and perfect pocket size, the Vistas are probably the best for anyone who spends a lot of time outside. If you’re in the market for a pair of puddle-proof buds, the Vistas are it.”
While there are 4 rubber ear options, I did have to change from the original size provided. Once I made this change, the earbuds fit perfectly and stayed in my ears during all of my workouts, something I really appreciated.
Jaybird Vista Wireless Earbuds Sound
I previously wore AirPods and a number of other earbuds so I had a decent idea of how those earbuds performed. While the AirPods are nice, they aren’t noise canceling and aren’t great for things like running, mowing the grass, and anything else where you only want to ear the music or podcast.
One of the many great things about the Jaybirds Vista Earbuds is that you can adjust the sound with the mobile app. This means you can customize how things sound with a few taps in the app.
When I first wore the Jaybirds Vista earbuds, I was shocked about how well these earbuds blocked out sound. It was almost weird at first because I was so used to just listening to music and podcasts through my iPhone speaker.
