Hoka One One Clifton 6 Shoe Review

Hoka One One Clifton 6

The Hoka Clifton 6 is now available! If you read the Clifton 5 review, then you already know I was a big fan of some of the updates to this iconic running shoe.

The all-new Hoka One One Clifton 6 is similar yet better than its predecessor. The main updates to the shoe are the improved upper material on the shoe.

The Clifton 6 continues to have a wider fit than some of the earlier versions of this shoe. The shoe is still a little narrow, but better than previous versions.

The men’s and women’s model continue to be available in five colors, with most of the colors being solid options. One thing to note is that only select colors are available in the wide version.

If you are a Clifton fan and enjoyed running in the Clifton 5, you will like the updated Clifton 6. These are versatile shoes and are great for tempo workouts and supportive enough for longer runs.

The Clifton 6 continues to have a wide model option which is important as some of the earlier Clifton models were way too narrow. The sole had a minor update and is a bit softer than the Clifton 5.

With regards to sizing, I still recommend ordering a 1/2 size up. I wear a size in Brooks and Saucony and wore an 11.5 in the Clifton 6. I prefer running these for 6-8 mile runs while I usually wear the Saucony Hurricane ISO for long runs.

If you are looking for a neutral running shoe that is responsive, lightweight, and fast, you should give the Clifton 6 a try!

Hoka One One Clifton 6 Initial Thoughts

Having worn every version of the Hoka One One Clifton shoe, I was looking forward to the Clifton 6. With the updates to the shoe last year, I figured I would continue to be impressed with this shoe model.

The first thing I noticed about these shoes was the updated mesh upper of the shoe. It looked and felt a little different than last years version. I was also impressed with the color combination worn for this review. The mid-sole looked similar to last years version.

Sizing Tip: Some sites tell you to order a 1/2 size up and others say that they run true to size. When sites say different sizing suggestions, it tells me these are probably in the middle of running true to size. I ordered a 1/2 size up to get the right size.

The Clifton 6’s continues to be lightweight and supportive enough to wear for daily or tempo runs.

This is my favorite version of the Clifton shoe behind the original versions. Hoka continues to improve this iconic shoe.

Hoka One One Clifton 6 Overview

The Hoka One One Clifton 6 running shoe is a neutral supportive running shoe that provides a lightweight and responsive feel making it great for daily training, long runs, and even tempo workouts. The updated version is a little lighter (9.1 oz for men’s size 9) than the Clifton 5.

The lightweight shoe combined with the Early Stage Meta-Rocker technology helps to continue to promote a natural running motion. The feel of this shoe feels very similar to its predecessor.

Hoka One One describes the early meta rocker technology as being “specifically engineered with a low heel-toe differential and a sculpted out-sole radius in the heel and toe, creates a unique fulcrum effect and encourages a guided foot gait cycle.”

The high abrasion rubber sole provides traction on most surfaces. This shoe is recommended for road surfaces, paved trails, or the track. Wearing these on actual trails will shorten the life of the sole.

Hoka One One Clifton 6 Sole

The Hoka One One Clifton 6 midsole was redesigned with the latest version. The updated sole is a little softer than the Clifton 5 providing a more comfortable ride.

The sole was updated to be more flexible and adapts better to the surface you are running on. I didn’t notice these updates initially, but the more I wore them, the better they felt.

The sole continues to have the Early Meta-Rocker technology, which supports and promotes a more efficient running form.

Below are a few pictures of the Clifton 6 sole.

Hoka One One Clifton 6 Upper

The Clifton 6 upper was also updated with the latest version of this iconic shoe. The redesigned upper has a more breathable material, which improves airflow and also has a reinforced midfoot which helps secure your foot with every step.

The seamless construction includes a 3D puff print frame and overlays making this shoe contour to your feet better for increased comfort. The tongue continues to be the perfect thickness while the heel provides additional support and comfort.

The Clifton 6 continues to have a slightly wider toe box, something that was changed with the Clifton 5.
