Hoka One One Arahi 4 Shoe Review

Hoka One One Arahi 4

The latest version of the Hoka One One Arahi 4 running shoe is now available.

While I was impressed with the Arahi 3, I was even more excited to give the Arahi 4 shoe a try. The Arahi model continues to be comfortable, supportive, and stylish. The Arahi 4 has 4 color options to choose from, so an option for everyone.

While there were minimal updates to this shoe, I am glad to see that the Arahi line continues to deliver support, comfort, and style with the Arahi 4. At the time of this review, the longest run I have completed was 10 miles on a paved trail.

Hoka One One Arahi 4 Verdict

Viewer Rating:

If you are looking for a lightweight stability running shoe, I would recommend giving the Arahi 4 a try. Runners who liked the Arahi 3 will like the updates to the Arahi 4.

If you haven’t worn Hokas before, they are well known for their marshmallow like foam sole. This continues to be the case with the Arahi 4. The sole is a little taller than traditional shoes and takes a little getting used to.

One thing to note is that I would suggest wearing these on the road due to the material and durability of the sole.

One thing you will immediately notice is the Meta-Rocker technology. This technology propels you forward with each step and great for running. The shoe has a medium width toe box, something that I liked more than the narrow upper of the latest Clifton shoes. The Arahi 4 is lightweight and feels fast from the moment you put it on.

Hoka One One Arahi 4 Initial Thoughts

While there were minor updates to the Arahi 4 shoe, one thing I immediately noticed before getting the shoe were the color options. Having great color options and a high performing shoe makes for a great combination. I still wear the Arahi 2 today, mostly because I like the feel and look of the shoe.

When I first opened the shoe box, I noticed that the Arahi 4 looked and felt very similar to its predecessor. The shoe felt really light and had the same sole as the previous version. Similar to most running shoes, I ordered a 1/2 size up just to make sure my forefoot has enough room. I learned from the Arahi 3 that ordering ½ size was best for me and something I would recommend for those who need a little extra room in the upper/toe box area.

The Rocker technology is something you will notice when you first put these shoes on. While it may feel a little weird at first, but it is really great for running.

Hoka One One Arahi 4 Overview

The Hoka One One Arahi 4 running shoes is one of the lighter performance stability running shoes on the market weighing around 9.8 ounces. The updates to the latest version are minimal, mostly to the upper portion of the shoe. The Arahi 4 sole remains identical to the previous version.

The Arahi 4 reduces overpronation by using an EVA J-Frame Construction. The Arahi 4 comes with an active foot frame, which helps runners looking for a stability shoe by reducing over-pronation.

This shoe is better suited for runners looking for a lightweight and supportive stability running shoe.

Hoka One One Arahi 4 Sole

The updates to the Arahi 4 sole are easy to discuss because the sole is the exact same as the Arahi 3. The sole looks the same, feels the same, and continues to deliver the support and cushion you would expect from Hoka.

The Arahi 4 continues to utilize the EVA J-Frame. This lightweight feature has a firm EVA foam along the medial side of the shoe and around the heel to support and guide the foot. The sole continues to be made of high abrasion rubber to improve durability.

If you are unfamiliar with the Early Stage Meta-Rocker technology, Hoka One One describes it as being “specifically engineered with a low heel-toe differential and a sculpted outsole radius in the heel and toe, creates a unique fulcrum effect and encourages a guided foot gait cycle.” This technology is used in a number of Hoka shoes, including the Hoka Arahi, Challenger, and Clifton shoe models.

I would recommend wearing these on the road or treadmill instead of a trail due to the durability of this sole.

Hoka One One Arahi 4 Upper

The Hoka One One Arahi 4 upper was the main thing that was updated with the latest version of this shoe. The upper of the shoe has an updated engineered mesh that improves breathability, making it great for running in all weather conditions.

The upper mesh lining feels great and something you will notice if you haven’t worn this shoe before. The Molded Ortholite Sockliner helps with odor management and increases the comfort of the shoe.
