Brooks Glycerin 15 Shoe Review

Brooks Glycerin 15 Shoe ReviewBrooks Glycerin 15

Brooks has once again delivered on the popular Glycerin running shoe. This is a shoe that demands high mileage and provides a plush and comfortable ride. Last year I reviewed the Glycerin 14 and similar to last year, I have great things to say about this shoe.

If you follow this blog, you know that I usually run in a more minimalist shoe like the Brooks PureCadence, but have really enjoyed comfort level of these shoes.

This is the second review of a Brooks Glycerin model. Due to my experiences last year with this shoe, I was excited to give the updated version a try and share my thoughts and opinion.

This shoe is great for a number of reasons, but one of the things I like is that Brooks offers 5 different colors to choose from. I like having an option when buying shoes, especially ones that cost $150.

Brooks Glycerin 15 Shoe Verdict

The Brooks Glycerin continues the tradition of being an excellent neutral running shoe. The updates to this shoe look and feel great. I will be honest though, the updates really don’t change the feel of the shoe compared to its predecessor.

If you are looking for additional support you won’t mind the 10.6oz weight, but I usually prefer running ni shoes that are a bit lighter. Due to the weight of this shoe, I suggest using it for mid distance or recovery runs.

The liner by the heel was very comfortable and provided an incredible fit, something I haven’t seen in some of the other Brooks shoes I have worn.

If you are looking for a plush and comfortable neutral running shoe, consider trying the Brooks Glycerin 15.

Brooks Glycerin 15 Shoe Initial Thoughts

Having reviewed the Glycerin 14 I had a good idea as to how the latest version would feel. I was anxious to see how these shoes would look and feel with the updates to the mesh one-piece upper.

When I first opened the box I was impressed with the quality of the shoe and the amount of cushion while walking through my house.

The heel continues to have an incredible sock-like fit that was very comfortable. The padded tongue made the shoe feel great when the laces were tied.

The shoe remains to have a 10mm drop (rear to front), which is a little higher than the majority of shoes I run in

Brooks Glycerin 15 Shoe Overview

The Brooks Glycerin 15 running shoe continues to be a highly rated neutral running shoe ideal for daily training and long distances.

The plush and soft ride of these shoes makes it great for daily training and recovery runs. The updated one piece upper and superDNA sole really make this shoe a pleasure to run in.

The 5 color options provide a variety of color combinations to choose from. I will say that the color I wore for this review was not my favorite of the 5 options.

Weighing in at 10.6 oz for a men’s size 9, these shoes are very supportive for what they weight.

Brooks Glycerin 15 Shoe Sole

The Brooks Glycerin 15 is very similar to its predecessor. When I took the shoe out of the box, I almost thought it was identical to the sole from last year. After further review, it turns out there were a few updates made.

The sole of the Glycerin 15 continues to have a rounded heel, a superNDA midsole material, and blown rubber compound really making it feel like a durable outsole.

The updated sole has newly designed forefoot grooves providing increased flexibility and an even smoother ride.

The rounded heel promotes a natural running movement. In addition to the superDNA midsole, the shoe has IDEAL pressure zones on the sole that help distribute the pressure and improve support of this shoe.

Brooks Glycerin 15 Shoe Upper

As soon as I took the Brooks Glycerin 15 out of the box I could immediately tell that the upper portion of the shoe was redesigned. When I put the shoe on, the upper provided a secure and snug fit, something that

The update with the Brooks Glycerin 15 is a redesigned one-piece 3D stretch upper with strategically placed overlays. The 3D stretch upper improves the fit and the overlays increase the support of almost any foot types and shapes. As I stated in a previous review, almost all newer shoes have a one piece upper due to the increased comfort and stability.

One of my favorite things they kept in the latest version was the soft sock liner. The sock liner keeps your foot snug and it feels absolutely amazing. The BioMoGo foam feels great the first time you put the shoe on. In addition to the sock liner, the saddle structures provide a great fit for all types of feet. The padded tongue feels soft and comfortable when the laces are tied.
