Adidas Adizero Tempo 8 Boost Shoe Review

Adidas Adizero Tempo 8 Boost Shoe Review

Adidas Tempo Boost 8 Shoe

Last year I was excited for the Adidas Tempo 7 Boost shoe, but they ended up not being the best racing shoe for me. This year a few updates have been made and I’m excited to give the updated version a try.

If you have read some of my previous posts, you know that I have been a fan of the earlier Adidas Adizero Tempo running shoe. Last year’s model bothered my calf and am happy to report great experiences with this latest version of the Adidas Adizero 8 Boost running shoe.

Pros Cons
  • Lightweight Feel
  • Increased support
  • Responsive
  • Boost Technology
  • Limited Color Options
  • Sizing – order 1/2 size up

Adidas Tempo Boost 8 Shoe Verdict

The updated Adidas Tempo Boost 8 shoe is something worth trying out. The minor updates to this shoe have improved the upper and offer a shoe that is light, responsive, and supportive. The updated version fits better than the previous model, something that I noticed during my first run with these.

If you are looking for a performance stability running shoe that provides the right support for all distances, then give this shoe a try. The only thing I would change about this shoe is having a wider forefoot area.

The Active Guy Initial Thoughts

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Adidas Tempo running shoe was my race shoe until last year. There was something about the earlier model that didn’t jive with my feet and body.

When I first opened the box, I immediately noticed the all red running shoes. I wasn’t the biggest fan, but wasn’t as bad as I thought they would be in person.  Similar to the earlier model, the boost technology felt supportive and responsive.

The fit on these shoes felt better than the earlier model. Please note, I would order a 1/2 size up for this model.

Adidas Adizero Tempo 8 Boost Running Shoe Overview

Similar to the Adidas Adizero Tempo 7, the Adidas Adizero Tempo 8 running shoe is a daily trainer  and performance stability running shoe that is ideal for slight to mild overpronated foot motion.

The boost midsole provides a responsive and lightweight (9.0 oz for size 9) running shoe that is light enough for speed work and supportive enough for longer runs, up to the marathon distance.

The sole of this shoe is has Continental rubber outsole that provides traction in wet or dry conditions.

Adizero Tempo 8 Boost Running Shoe Sole

The updated sole of this shoe comes with a similar Continental rubber outsole designed to provide improved stability and traction. If you have worn the Tempo 7 Boost, then you will notice the sole is the same.

The rubber part of the forefoot part of the sole is a bit thinner like the Adidas Tempo 7 Boost. The durability was still there due to the high quality of the Continental sole, but wanted to at least point it out. The rubber sole does a great job with traction in all-weather conditions.

This sole has soft feel and responsive ride. Similar to last years shoe, it has a sole made with the Boost technology, which are capsules that improve sole responsiveness and an increased shoe life with minimal weight. If you haven’t tried any boost shoes on, I suggest giving them a try, or at least squeezing the sole when you find one.

Adidas Adizero Tempo 8 Boost Running Shoe Upper

I hate to keep repeating myself, but the upper for the most part is similar to the previous version. The shoe toe box is an open mesh which improves breathability while reducing weight. When I first wore these shoes, I noticed that the forefoot seemed more narrow than the previous version. The mesh lining allows for superior moisture and heat exchange between the foot and outside air.

This shoe has a comfortable sockliner that makes these so comfortable to wear. The improved upper fit provides a more natural fit for your foot. The upper in this year’s model felt better than the previous model. More comfortable and snug.

The tongue is attached on both sides inside the shoe so you will never have to worry about it moving to an uncomfortable position.

  • I am a neutral-under pronator and these work great for me, I like that the Boost midsole ends towards the forefoot, it’s better for stability in my case. Nice review

  • Thanks for the review. I have a quick question about allowing for half a size up. On a normal basis, I would already make (almost all the time) a half size up allowance from my normal walking shoes (ie size 7.5UK for walking, I would get size 8.0UK for running). Would this half-size allowance be on top of this normal allowance that I make? Apologies for the question – I am thinking of ordering the shoes online as it is not available in my part of the world. Would like to get a better idea on sizing. Thanks!

    • Jo, no need to apologize. Thanks for the question. So I understand, are there certain brands or shoes you don’t order up on? The Adizero Tempo 8 and Adizero Tempo 9 are two models that I recommend sizing 1/2 up so that they fit as expected. Let me know if this helps!

      • Thanks for the input! I find that I would not half up on Asics Kayano because they seem longer than normal. But had to size up on my New Balance 1500v3.

The stores here in Malaysia carry the Supernova ST and Boost ST, both of which you have reviewed on your site (thanks so much!). Maybe I will give them a try at the store and see how they fit. Thanks again for your help!
