Best Spring 2016 Running Shoes

The fall and spring time are exciting for runners and fitness minded people for so many reasons. One of the main reasons fall and spring are my favorite is that I normally have a major race scheduled and I get to check out all the upcoming shoes and apparel.

I have read a number of running shoe articles and have compiled a list of the shoes I am excited going to try in 2016. The shoes below are either available now or will be available in spring 2016.

Below are my top 5 running shoes for Spring 2016.

1. Saucony Triumph ISO 2

In November 2015, the Saucony Triumph ISO 2 was released and ever since I first tried this shoe on, I have loved it.

The key updates in this shoe are the EverRun sole technology which give an amazing run and comfortable feel. These shoes are great for almost any run.

These shoes are rated by Runner’s World as one of the best updates of 2016. Get used to seeing plenty of people wearing these great shoes.

2. Brooks PureCadence 5

If you have read any of my Brooks PureCadence shoe reviews, you know I’m a huge fan. This year, the shoe has improved.

The updated sole and upper provide a sock like fit that make for a supportive and responsive run.

Even though the shoe colors are cool, they now only have 2 colors for the men’s and women’s models.

3. Altra IQ

The Altra IQ shoe is brand new for 2016. This incredible and “smart” running provides you real-time information during your run, is powered by iFit.

iFit provides real-time information on your stride, place of foot striking, and provides more details and information that will help with analyzing each run. The shoe weighs under 9oz and has the standard wide toe box which I prefer.

This new shoe could be a game changer in the running shoe industry and this is the first shoe that I am aware of that provides this level of information.

I am looking forward to trying out this shoe. Check back for a shoe review later this year.

4. New Balance Fresh Foam 1080v6

New Balance has done it again. They have continued to create a foam running shoe that performs under all conditions.

The updated Fresh Foam 1080 v6 provides a soft, yet responsive midsole, was designed to support your individual foot strike.

The mesh upper construction reduces weight and allows for a lightweight and breathable shoe. The updated shoe continues to deliver like all the other earlier models.

I have briefly an in these and really liked them, just not as much as the other shoes I own.

5. HOKA One One Clayton

The all new Hoka One One Clayton running shoe is light, soft, and responsive. This shoe is lighter than the Hoka One One Clifton, but is 4mm thinner than the Cliftons. The shoe weighs in at under 8oz, which is incredible for a shoe that provides ample support and cushioning.

This means that these shoes can be worn for daily runs, speed work, and even on longer runs. I was a huge fan of Hoka’s until I realized they were a little narrow for my foot.
